True Experience vs. “Spiritual Knowledge”

Excerpt from a video of Maitreya Dadashreeji

What does spirituality mean? Spirituality means “experience.’ Spirituality does not mean “spiritual knowledge.”  Spiritual knowledge is needed, but experience is superior to knowledge. Hold on to what you experience. That is your Truth. You may be having a conversation with me, but your conversation with me is based on your personal experience.

If you ask me questions based on someone else’s book, all I need to do is ask you a few questions in return. Very soon you will not be able to answer my questions because that book is not a part of your personal experience. Someone else’s experience has been narrated in that book.

Hypothetically, let us assume there are a thousand books in this world. The content of these thousand books is based upon a hundred original books. What happens is that those original books lead to a thousand books; and then based on those thousand books, ten thousand books were published. There is no original content in these books because the original content was only those first one hundred books. What you end up reading are (many) versions of those original one hundred books.

This is also true in your life when you talk about spirituality. For example, The Bhagavad Gīta is an original text, and content of the Bhagavad Gīta was never written before the text itself. The Gīta (itself) contains original thought.  Nanak Ji, Adi Shankara,  Lord Gautama Buddha, Sant Kabir (names of spiritual masters and teachers who had who shared original teachings from their own experience and inner Truth) shared experiences for the first time (that were part of the knowledge shared in some of these original one hundred books). What you read today is a version of their original teaching and experiences.

Why are we limited to having just hundred original texts? Why hasn’t there been a new text written? The reason is because no one has had an original experience. All you do is gather information from all over! You read about the experiences of others without having your own personal experience. This thought pattern is based on fear. You fear being judged and that people may not like what you have to say.

You need to learn to listen to the Voice within you. You have to tune into the voice within, stay with it, and walk with it. The truth is you can create something new, something that is good. I guarantee being with you with all my “shakti” (energy).  We have said this over and over, you can do something that is original. No person can thwart your spiritual progress. Your progress gets accelerated because we are with you.

The one hundred and first original text will come about when you do something for the social well-being and good of society.  Remember that ten people may create their versions based on your original text. We don’t have a problem with that; in fact, that is a good thing. Learn to do something new. You may have ten to fifteen people who are with you and that is fine. What you need to do is learn to spend time with yourself. Understand yourself. Ask yourself questions: ‘Who Am I’?  More importantly, ask yourself: ‘How Am I’? Learn to do and create something new! Be aware of yourself:  of your thoughts and what you would like to do.

Hold on to your thoughts in any given moment and use them.

Spirituality is very simple.

Don’t carry the burden of wanting spiritual knowledge.
