Excerpt from a video of Maitreya Dadashreeji
Maitreya Dadashreeji:
People tend to think that,”if I meditate, then my mind will be quiet.” They also think, “If I meditate, then I will be able to control my anger.” We look at the practice of meditation in this manner; that it will lead me to a very (high)spiritual state. I’ll move towards becoming a saint, becoming a renunciate, or a yogic master!
Unwittingly, these thoughts and feelings surface in our mind. There is a struggle within yourself between your concept of your ‘ideal state’ as a result of meditation, and your feelings of anger (or other negative feelings) In the process, there is an internal struggle within.
You struggle with these feelings that you’ve created yourself! You need not fight or resist any of these feelings. Just as you accept your peaceful state, so too accept your feelings of anger. If you look around you in this year 2025, it is essential to control your anger. If your anger gets out of control you may find yourself in troublesome situations. The situations around you may escalate due to your temper and anger being out of control.
So start to practice managing your anger now. Start by first accepting anger as a part and parcel of yourself. You need to accept internally that anger too, is me! It is not wrong to feel anger. You are a human being and anger is bound to occur! Transformation does NOT mean you will have freedom from anger (krodha mukt). Many people have this false assumption that being transformed would also mean freedom from anger. Anger is a part of your disposition, your innate nature…
Let us tell you of something even better! Just sit with your Divine Light for 10-15 minutes, practice (Maitri) Sambodh Dhyaan, or Maitri Dhyaan (two types of meditations taught by Maitri Bodh Parvaar). These are very powerful meditation practices. Spend a little time on these and then focus on your work, and your daily routine. Recognize your duty and move forward.
You may struggle with feelings of anger if you meditate and if you don’t meditate. Meditation and anger are NOT connected. There is no relationship between the two! The problem is with what goes on in your mind; that even though you’re meditating, you still struggle with anger!
The purpose of meditation was never to help you get rid of your anger. YOU have made that connection!… You think, “if I meditate, I’ll be able to get rid of my anger.” You may have read it somewhere or it may be an inborn feeling within you that makes you to think that you’ll be able to control your anger this way. The Truth is there is no connection between meditation and anger!
Meditation is only connected with your internal ‘state of being.’ Meditation reveals the Truth of yourself! It reveals the internal truth. Day and night you indulge in mental stories of who did what to you, who is good who is bad… You sit in judgement; but when you sit and meditate, your internal truth gets revealed to you! All day long you’ve judged others, now it’s time you take a look at your own self. How are you really on the inside? You will see your internal truth and once you see it, accept it.
Accept yourself just the way you are!
